Evolving UCB products enable a range of manufacturers to develop materials which, in turn, make up the familiar objects of our everyday life.

House exterior components rely on UCB industrial coatings resins. Concrete and fibre-cement roofing materials are protected by coatings based on Ucecryl resin binders. Wood materials are enhanced in a variety of ways: they can be decorated and protected by UV-curable coatings based on UCB Radcure resins or with Ucecoat polyurethanes while weather-exposed wood can be made to last longer through the use of methylamine-derived biocides. On the other hand, windows can have exceptional impact resistance and acoustic barrier properties thanks to the Uvekol resins.

UCB methylamine derivatives, too, provide for our welfare through the manufacture of essential ingredients for animal feed, for healthy crops and for plant protection. Choline chloride ensures healthy growth of livestock, whilst the quality of fruit, turf and ornamental plants is enhanced by chlormequat, ferbam, thiram, ziram and metham sodium.

UCB plays also a role in our leisure activities. Metal frames of the table and barbecue are protected by powder coatings based on Crylcoat polyester resins. Similar coatings protect the bicycle frame, whilst the rubber tyres have been made using methylamine derivatives.

Graphics industry coatings are present in our daily life as well. Beverage cans are decorated and varnished using UV-curable Radcure resins, whilst magazine and paperback covers are enhanced with high-gloss UV coatings, varnishes and inks, also from the Radcure range. Many paper grades are also strengthened through the use of methylamine derivatives in the paper pulp.

Furthermore, polyurethane fabric coatings from UCB, together with methylamine-derivative solvents, are widely used in outer clothing, footwear and accessories. Ucecoat polyurethanes are used to make imitation suede and man-made leather materials, whilst such coatings improve the weather performance and comfort of anoraks.

Methylamines produced by UCB also play an important part in our domestic activities. Hair shampoos are formulated with methylamine derivatives while other derivatives are used to make washing powders and textile softeners. Acrylic fibres in sweaters are spun through the use of a solvent derived from methylamine.

And last but not least, pressure-sensitive adhesives from UCB are used for labels. These adhesives, both waterborne and solvent-based, are made from Solucryl, Ucecryl and Ucefix acrylic resins
