A free-flowing fluorocarbon based formulation that is designed for use at very low levels to improve processing of plastics. At the very low use levels (typically 250-1000 ppm) necessary to improve processing, it does not alter or detract from the good mechanical properties associated with high strength plastics. DYNAMAR FX-5920 can offer performance and cost advantages over comparable loadings of other processing additives. It exhibits exceptional commercial utility in low melt index film grade linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). It is especiallly effective in polyolefin resins containing silica based antiblocking agents, titanium dioxide-based pigments, and other inorganic additives. DYNAMAR FX-5920 lowers apparent melt viscosity and permits fabricators to use high strength resins which otherwise could not be processed on available equipment. Now with the aid of DYNAMAR FX-5920, fabricators can produce superior films and other articles of improved strength and quality. As a process aid, DYNAMAR FX-5920 reduces or eliminates melt fracture, can reduce extruder torque, increase output, , improve clarity and gloss, and yield films with more balanced bi-directional properties.
The granular free-flowing form of DYNAMAR FX-5920 facilitates distribution of the process aid in the production of concentrates and masterbatches with pellets and granular resins. It may be fed directly into the additive line, or a 2-5% concentration can be prepared by dry mixing or melt blending.
When processing resins containing DYNAMAR FX-5920, the processing effect will usually require processing enough resin to coat the extruder barrel, screw, and die before the effect will become apparent. |
