Orlistat powder is a drug used for the treatment of obesity or overweight patients.It was first developed by Roche and launched in the United States in 1999.It is the only over-the-counter weight loss drug approved by FDA,CFDA and EMA in the world.It works by inhibiting pancreatic and gastric lipases,the enzymes responsible for breaking down dietary fats in the gastrointestinal tract.This causes undigested fat to be excreted in the feces,resulting in fewer calories absorbed from fat.
In the United States,orlistat is approved for the treatment of body mass index (BMI,Body Mass Index,unit kg/㎡) reaching or exceeding 30 (the US obesity standard).And,people with a body mass index between 27 and 30 and other health risk factors such as high blood pressure or diabetes.

In addition to aiding in weight loss,studies have shown that orlistat powder can also lead to a modest reduction in blood pressure.Pooled data from clinical trials suggest that orlistat reduces systolic and diastolic blood pressure by an average of 2.5 and 1.9 mmHg,respectively.The mechanism behind this reduction in blood pressure is thought to be related to the weight loss achieved through orlistat use,as obesity is a known risk factor for hypertension.However,it is important to note that the reduction in blood pressure achieved through orlistat use is relatively small and should not be relied upon as the sole treatment for hypertension.People with hypertension should continue to follow the advice of their healthcare provider and use medication as prescribed.
4. Prevention of Onset of Type 2 Diabetes
