Chemically, BHA is a mixture of two isomers, 2-tertiary-butyl-4-hydroxy-anisole and 3-tertiary-butyl-4-hydroxy-anisole. This mixture is commonly referred to as butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA). It is effective as an antioxidant in animal fats, but rather ineffective in vegetable oils. It has good carry-through properties and because it is volatile, it can be used in packaging materials. It is almost universally approved for human and animal use. Animal feeds/Pet food Antioxidant Beverage mixes Edible fats Flavorings Food additives Mineral oil Vitamins |
