USP 400P is an 80% solution of the peroxyketal, 1, 1-Di (t-Butyl peroxy) cyclohexane, in butyl benzyl phthlate. It is a highly efficient source of free radicals for the curing of unsaturated polyester resins at temperatures of about 116'C - 165'C. (240'F - 329'F). USP 400P is more reactive than t-butyl peroxybenzoate
however, the shelf life of the catalyzed compound is usually the same or longer with USP 400P . This improved shelf life feature is particularly advantageous in premix or sheet molding compound (SMC) type applications. Due to the chemical structure of USP 400P , it is more resistant to various pigments, dyes and fillers, which can reduce catalyzed shelf life of polyester compounds and affect flow times in heated dies. |
