A primary phthalate plasticizer for vinyl chloride resins and copolymers. It is also compatible with nitrocellulose, chlorinated rubber, many of the acrylate copolymers and synthetic rubbers. The inherently good plasticizing characteristics of a dialkyl phthalate can be secured with PX-914, and its high solvating action results in greater compatibility and better processing with vinyl resins. PX-914 combines in a single plasticizer such important properties as low temperature flexibility, excellent heat and light stability, as well as efficiency. PX-914 is suggested for such applications as high quality sheeting, garden hose, tubing, gasketing, shoe welting, and other extrusion compounds. It also finds use in wire and cable insulation and jackets. Where lower volatility is required, PX-914 can be used in blends with many other plasticizers. Combined with the proper dispersion resins and additives, PX-914 can be used advantageously for plastisol and organosol compounding, particularly for rotational molding, slush and dip coatings, and for coated and impregnated fabrics.
