ALCOGUM L-243 was developed for use in paper coating formulations requiring additional water retention without significant increass in high shear viscosity for optimized coater runnability. The product was designed to provide more water retention and thickening dfficiency than ALCOGUM L-229. ALCOGUM L-243 allows the formulator to build more water retention into coatings. Lower blade pressures at higher speeds are a common result of these properties.
ALCOGUM L-243 is a member of the ALCOGUM L-200 Series of provides excellent mechanical shear and freeze-thaw stability to the emulsion. These emulsions have enhanced compatibility with typical coating raw materials which simplifies addition and mixing techniques.
ALCOGUM L-243 is an alkali soluble viscosifier of the type commonly referred to as an in-situ thickener. It is supplied as a stable anionic latex emulsion at pH 4.0 - 5.0.
