ALCOGUM L-1228 is an ammonium salt of an acrylate copolymer viscosifier.
It is a preneutralized form of ALCOGUM L-29 supplied as a ready-to-use viscous solution with slightly opaque appearance.
ALCOGUM L-1228 was developed for use in paper and paperboard coating formulations where improved runnability is desired.
Ti provides additional water retention without significantly increasing low and high shear viscosity.
A particular adantage of ALCOGUM L-1228 is that it can be added directly to the coating color as supplied without adding additional alkali to adjust pH.
ALCOGUM L-1228 will develop full viscosity and water reteniton properties at pH as low as 6.0 where the other L-SERIES products will not function. |
