ALCOGUM L-229 is a member of the ALCOGUM L-200 Series of thickeners. This product group utilizes a proprietary emulsification system which provides excellent mechanical shear and freeze-thaw stability to the emulsion. These emulsions have enhanced compatibility characteristics with typical coating raw materials which simplifies addition and mixing techniques.
ALCOGUM L-229 is an alkali soluble viscosifier of the type commonly referred to as an in-situ thickener. It is supplied as a stable anionic latex emulsion at pH 4.5 - 5.5.
ALCOGUM L-229 was developed for use in paper coating formulations that require additional water retention without significant increases in low and high shear viscosity for better coater runnability. This product allows the formulator to build more water retention into his formulation while maintaining lower Brookfield and Hercules high shear viscosities compared to other ALCOGUM L-Series products. Lower blade resures at higher speeds are common result of these properties. |
