ALCOGUM SL-117 is an alkali activated associative rheology modifier. ALCOGUM SL-117 is a member of the ALCOGUM SL-SERIES line of rheology modifiers covered by U.S. Patents. This polymer is an acrylic emulsion polymer which builds viscosity at low dosage levels. Primary applications for this product have been adhesives, construction products and other pigmented compounds.
ALCOGUM SL-117 can be used to viscosify water-based compounds. Optimum performance is achieved between pH 8 and 10. When added to alkaline pH systems, pre-dilution may allow better mixing. The water solutions of associative acrylic polymers have been shown to undergo an increase in viscosity when used in conjunction with nonionic surfactants.
