Lubrajel MS is a glyceryl polymethacrylate (INCI) clathrate which contains a small amount of propylene glycol and methyl and propyl parabens.
The clathrate holds water molecules and releases them when it is disrupted.
Disruption occurs with the addition of ionic materials, acids or alkali.
Normally, the salt content at the skin surface slowly disrupts the clathrate that in turn moisturizes the epidermal surfaces.
Although similar in viscosity to Lubrajel CG, the MS grade behaves differently upon dilution.
This is mainly because of differences in the moisture holding capacity of the clathrates.
The viscosity vs. dilution curve for Lubrajel MS indicates that the addition of water to the product results in smaller viscosity depression as compared to Lubrajel CG.
This is especially noted when using concentrations between 10 and 20 percent Lubrajel.
Lubrajel MS is especially suitable for use in creams, lotions, makeups and other personal care and cosmetic products.
Lubrajel MS is usually used at concentrations between 10 and 20 percent for moisturization and at concentrations between 10 and 50 percent for rheological modification.
