Baracor 1635 |
|
BARACOR 1635, powdered sodium nitrite, protects the drillpipe and casing during air drilling or with aerated drilling fluids. BARACOR 1635 will protect against acid gas and oxygen corrosion, even in the presence of hydrogen sulfide or carbon dioxide. BARACOR 1635 reacts with oxygen in the fluid and inhibits formation of oxygen corrosion cells. Early detection of oxygen corrosion is difficult due to deposits or barriers obscuring the effect. Usually severe pitting has formed and major damage has been done before detection. It is, therefore, recommended that BARACOR 1635 be carried in the air stream or aerated drilling fluid at all times. *Applications/Functions: Inhibit corrosion in air, foam, or mist drilling, Act as an oxygen scavenger in aerated drilling muds. *Advantages: Provides an alternative to sulfite/sulfate reaction chemistry, Reacts with oxygen in solution or air, Oxidizes hydrogen sulfide under acid conditions to remove it from system, Provides flexibility and economy in shipping and handling due to its concentrated form, Can be added through a mud hopper or through a chemical barrel in solution form. |
