BARAFOS, a modified sodium polyphosphate compound, is used as a thinner and dispersant in fresh water muds.
*Applications/Functions: Thin the mud and allow sand and cuttings to settle out, Minimize thickening due to anhydrite, gypsum, or cement contamination, Disperse sticky clays which cause problems such as mud rings and bit balling.
*Advantages: Thins clay or bentonite slurries quickly, Effective in small concentrations, Dissolves rapidly, Environmentally responsible. |
