The world renowned oysters of the French Atlantic coast are said to owe their unique and superior flavor to the presence of a particular blue-green algae, Haslea ostrearia.
Flavor effects aside, this unique species has many benefits to offer to personal care products.
A special cultivation process allows the maintenance of a supply of a pure culture of this algae without depending on seasonal harvesting and without being effected by the vagaries of the weather.
The algae are harvested by centrifugation and then lyophilized before being extracted in propylene glycol.
Haslea ostrearia is a rich source of vitamin E as well as many minerals including zinc, iron, copper and gold. |
