Polyacrylamide
Polyacrylamide
Description
TC-305 is a copolymer composed of Polyacrylamide and C13-14 Isoparaffin and Laureth-7, dissolved in water. It is lightly cross-linked, highly branched, and contains very low levels of high HLB emulsifier, it works to emulsify or co-emulsify a large variety of oil phase ingredient.
TC-305 demonstrates good rubout properties and an excellent general afterfeel with a distinctive skin softness and absence of tack. Easy to use.
TC-305 can work as either a primary or auxiliary emulsifier in oil-in-water emulsion systems depending upon the polarity of the oil phase ingredients. Performs as a multifunctional ingredient that modifies rheology, stabilizes, emulsifies or co-emulsifies, and suspends while enhancing sensory properties.

Versatility
TC-305 is designed in a concentrated liquid form which is freeze thaw stable.
TC-305 is designed for use in the presence of anionic and nonionic ingredient.
TC-305 allows the formulator to eliminate several stages from the normal manufacturing procedure.
TC-305 eliminates the need to calculate H.L.B.
No need to select specific nonionic emulsifiers in skin care systems.
No neutralization is required to generate viscosity build.
Sodium chloride is not required to obtain viscosity build.
TC-305 gives good emollience and rub-in characteristics in skin creams and lotions.
Formulating Guidelines
1. Effective as a primary or secondary emulsifier.
2. Recommended use levels are 1-4% as supplied.
3. Polymer, if added directly to water phase, will rapidly thicken.
4. Cold process formulating feasible.
5. Recommended for formulations between pH 4.0~10.0. To formulate at pH 5~6, use low levels of Carbopol Polymers or add mild acid.
Thickening Effect
1. Viscosity vs. TC-305 Concentration

Comparative testing demonstrates: to formulate at thick gel, the recommended use levels by weight are 2~3%.
2. Storage Stability of TC-305 gel
Viscosity of gel TC-305 may raise light, after stored for one week at room temperature.
3. Viscosity vs. pH value

Mucilage containing 3% TC-305, demonstrates Gel TC-305 can be keeping stable viscosity parameter in a wide range of pH value. It is particularly effective when formulating around pH 3.5~11.5. So for common formulations, no need adjusting pH value.
4. Viscosity vs. Sodium Chloride presence

Comparative testing demonstrates the presence of electrolytes has a big effect on mucilage containing TC-305. To obtain same performance as mucilage without Electrolytes, formulation must be added more TC-305. With the increasing of electrolytes concentration, the effect will become more serious.

Result:
1. Formulation viscosity keeps above 100,000 mPa¡¤s.
2. After one month staying at 48¡É, formulation keeps stable.
3. After one month freeze-thaw test at -18¡É , formulation keeps stable.
Preparation Guidelines
¡¤Add to water with moderate agitation for rapid thickening
¡¤Can be dispersed in various oil phases prior to addition to water phase. The polarity of the oil phase should be considered, however. In the presence of highly polar oil phase ingredients, hydrogen bonding may take place causing the polymer to swell slightly. In this case, it is best to add the polymer directly to the water phase. When preparing hot process formulations where TC-305 is dispersed in the oil phase, always ensure adequate mixing is used.
¡¤TC-305 can also be added with moderate agitation to a dispersion containing both the water and the oil phases to thicken rapidly and stabilize an emulsion.
¡¤Post addition of TC-305 allows the formulator to adjust the final product viscosity.

1. Aqueous Gel Preparation
Only add water phases to TC-305, or add TC-305 to water phases under agitation, milky aqueous gel comes forth instantly.
2. Emulsion Preparation
TC-305 plays a role of thickening and stabilizing at emulsion formulation. TC-305 can be added in the process of agitation or emulsifying reaction or emulsion after emulsifying, no need adjusting pH value.
3. Creamy-Gel Preparation (Normal temperature)
A. Place TC-305 into oil phases, disperse and mix to uniformity under low speed

B. Rapidly put oil phase into water phases under, gel comes forth instantly.
4. Creamy-Gel Preparation (High temperature)
A. Prepare oil phases , and heat to 70¢¦80¡É

B. Prepare water phases, heat the same or similar temperature as oil phases

C. Add oil phase to water phases under continuous agitation to uniformity

D. Add TC-305 to emulsion under agitation, to obtain fine and smooth white cream.
Storage & Handling
1. Storage in cool and dry area, humidity can cause gel formation

2. If TC-305 becomes viscous caused by freeze, it must be treated to natural state by freeze thaw, even by homogenization if necessary

3. Before use, please shake the container of TC-305, because little layer is possible when storage

4. All operation equipment must be made insure dry before use TC-305.
Standard packaging: 50KG/DRUM.
