Trisodium phosphate chlorinated occurs as white crystals or crystalline powder with faint smell of chlorine. It is freely soluble in water, and the pH of its aqueous solution is about 11.7. It is stable under normal temperature, but will decomposes when heated. In water it can combine directly with Ca, Mg and other heavy metal ions to form water insoluble phosphates, so as to soften the water and the same time to condense the water insoluble impurities and make them deprecipitate
